Some of the best professionals and junior players have come through the RMS Academy under Rod Martin’s tutelage.
Professional Players
Rod Martin began his coaching career soon after retiring from the professional tour. He started his mentorship at the Australian Institute of Sport during the 90’s and quickly rose to the head of the high performance academy. Under his tutelage, several young players within Australia, like Ryan Cuskelly (HWR #12), went on to have successful careers on the professional tour. He coached at the Australian Institute of Sport from 1996-2010. During this time, he also coached Australian to a Men’s World Team title in 2002. Some of the notable players that Rod coached during his time at the Institute were, his sister Michelle Martin (HWR #1), Stewart Bozwell (HWR #4), Anthony Ricketts (HWR #3), Paul Price (HWR #4), Dan Jenson (HWR #5), Cameron Pilley (HWR #11) and Kasey Brown (HWR #5).
Following this, Rodney moved to the United States to pursue another avenue of his coaching and working with the young talents in the North-East of the US. Some of the notable professionals that Rod has coached since moving to the United States are Mohamed ElShorbagy, Ryan Cuskelly, Zac Alexander, Abdulla Al-Tamimi, Peter Creed, Chris Hanson and Chris Binnie.
RMS Junior Academy
Once he began his coaching in the United States, it was only a matter of time before he produced several top juniors. Rod has successfully mentored and coached junior US players that have been in the Top 5 ranking in the country in their age group for over 15 years now. Many of those junior players went on to have successful college careers at some of the best institutions in the country, like, Harvard, Yale, UPenn, Princeton, etc… Some even continued on to the professional tour.
He continues to run his academy out of the Connecticut area and his passion for coaching continues to grow as he gets older.
